Did you ever catch yourself scrolling at 2 a.m., eyes burning, and suddenly thought, “Maybe I should just delete everything, move to a cottage, and start making bread?” Because, same. And that feeling is exactly why being “offline” has become the hottest personality trait. What we’re really experiencing isn’t just boredom or trend fatigue — it’s digital burnout. If you’re the person who goes on holiday, deletes Instagram for a week, and returns saying, “I’ve never felt so at peace,” you’re not unique; you’re just very on-trend.

Being offline is trending in a way that being hyper-online once did. We’ve moved from worshipping hustle culture, productivity apps, and 10-step morning routines to glorifying digital detoxes, screen-time screenshots, and minimalist lock screens. People call it analogue living, digital minimalism, slow living, or proudly being “chronically offline.” But really, it just means: I’m tired of the algorithm, and I want my brain back.

Is this just digital burnout?

A big reason people romanticise being offline is that social media is exhausting. Places that once felt fun now feel like overcrowded shopping malls where everyone is selling a lifestyle, personality, or version of success you didn’t ask for. We open Instagram to relax and end up questioning our career, our body, our relationships, and why we’re not in Bali at 23.

Instagram tells you you’re behind. LinkedIn tells you you’re not productive enough. Pinterest tells you your bedroom isn’t aesthetic. By the end of it, your brain is cooked. So, wanting to log off doesn’t feel dramatic anymore; it feels like a matter of survival.

There’s also a status element. Being able to go offline is slowly becoming a privilege. If you can afford to take breaks from social media, not post your every move, and not hustle for visibility, people assume you’re stable, secure, and “unbothered.” You’re not chasing likes or brand deals — you’re “above” it all. The offline lifestyle has somehow become the new cool aesthetic.

The Influencer Irony (Make It Make Sense)

Many people genuinely feel calmer without social media — less anxious, more present, more like themselves. I get that; I’ve felt it too. But here’s the ironic part: influencers constantly post about how freeing it is to quit social media… on social media.

“I quit social media, and it changed my life,” they say in a perfectly lit Reel. You have to laugh. Are they really unplugging, or just packaging the idea of unplugging?

Some people truly leave social media and live quieter, happier lives — and good for them. But for most of us, going fully offline isn’t realistic. Our work, friendships, and daily lives exist online. The internet isn’t all bad — it can be funny, creative, comforting, and even life-changing.

Extremely Online vs Extremely Offline

I don’t think being extremely offline is better than being extremely online. Both can be unhealthy. Too much online makes you anxious. Being offline can make you disconnected. The real goal isn’t deleting apps — it’s learning to use them without losing yourself.

Scroll when you want. Log off when you need. Laugh at memes. Touch grass. Post if you feel like it. Ghost the apps if they drain you. It’s not that deep.

Why Are We Romanticising Everything?

What confuses me more than the offline trend is how we’ve started romanticising everything. Burnout is aesthetic. Struggling is poetic. Crying in cafés is content. Even basic things — walking, journaling, drinking black coffee, reading — are branded as dreamy lifestyles.

Maybe we romanticise ordinary life because the world feels chaotic. Maybe making small moments feel beautiful helps us cope. Or maybe we’re just addicted to trends.

At the end of the day, the most romantic thing isn’t deleting your apps or becoming a digital minimalist monk. It’s simply being present in your own life — online or offline. Because what we really need is balance. And honestly, maybe addressing our digital burnout instead of aestheticising it is the real reset.

It comes wrapped in winter sunlight, rooftop laughter, and the unmistakable feeling that home is exactly where you are supposed to be.

Celebrated every year on the 14th of January, Makar Sankranti marks a shift – not just in the sun’s journey, but in how we feel. The days grow longer, the cold softens, and something inside us loosens its grip. It is a festival of movement, of upward motion, of hope gently rising.

But it sounds like children shouting from rooftops.

The weeks before Sankranti are filled with anticipation. Kites are chosen carefully – bright ones, big ones, the kind that look brave against the sky. Children wait impatiently, counting days, practicing their grip, imagining the moment their kite finally takes flight. On Sankranti morning, rooftops turn into playgrounds. The sky fills up slowly, then all at once.

There is laughter, competition, playful teasing, and that one moment of pure triumph when a kite soars higher than the rest. Even adults, who pretend to be busy, find themselves looking up, smiling, pulled into the joy almost without realizing it.

A Festival That Brings Everyone Back Together

Makar Sankranti has a gentle way of gathering people. Families come together without announcements or obligations. Someone brings peanuts, someone else brings sweets, and conversations flow as easily as the breeze.

It is a festival where generations sit side by side. Grandparents tell stories of how Sankranti used to be. Parents juggle responsibilities while secretly enjoying the break. Children run between rooms and rooftops, full of excitement. There is no rush, no pressure – just presence.

The simple act of sharing til-gud carries meaning. “Til-gud ghya, god god bola” isn’t just a saying; it’s a reminder to be kind, to speak sweetly, to start anew. Even when life feels uncertain, Sankranti arrives on time, quietly reassuring us that some things remain steady.

There is comfort in waking up to the same winter sun, eating the same sweets, following the same customs we grew up with.
A Night That Changed Everything

The match began like many others: a smattering of hopefuls in the stands, familiar faces on screens online, the sense of another underdog story ready to be applauded either way. Yet, as the innings unfolded, everything shifted. Australia had piled up an intimidating 338 in 49.5 overs.

Chasing 339, India looked under pressure early; they lost key wickets and the required rate climbed. That is when Jemimah Rodrigues took over. In the course of her unbeaten 127 off 134 balls, she transformed tension into triumph. A 167-run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who made 89, steadied the chase.

As the scoreboard crossed 300, the stadium didn’t just watch — it felt every moment. The noise stopped being polite support; it became an electric expectation. And when the winning shot finally came, India reaching 341 for 5 in 48.3 overs, the roar said it all.

A stadium learned a name it never thought it would need to know.

Beyond a Win

That victory did more than secure a place in the final. It challenged how we, as an audience, view the game. For too long, women’s sport has been framed as something to be nurtured, not followed. But this team reminded us that sport doesn’t ask for sympathy — it demands respect. Their win wasn’t a surprise; it was overdue recognition.

Social media was flooded with disbelief that turned into devotion. Analysts who once spoke in disclaimers now spoke in awe. Kids replayed highlights not because they were being told to “celebrate women’s sports week,” but because the cricket was that good. The conversation had changed, and with it, perhaps, the culture around it.

The Final Awaits Tomorrow

India plays the ICC Women’s World Cup Final tomorrow, and if the semi-final was any indication, the world will be watching differently this time. Watch it not to “support women’s cricket,” but because you’ll want to be there when history decides to repeat itself. Watch it because this is cricket at its finest — relentless, emotional, fearless. The future isn’t coming; it’s already here.

And tomorrow, when the crowd roars again, it might just sound like a woman’s name being cheered.

It’s about doing what matters.

Most of us grew up watching our parents slog through jobs they didn’t love, trading dreams for paychecks. Sure, the bills were paid, but at what cost? Many in this generation don’t want that kind of regret hanging over their heads. They’re swapping the “work to survive” mindset for “work that makes me thrive.” It’s not about rejecting stability — it’s about rejecting boredom and burnout.

They’d rather flop chasing a passion than succeed in a role that drains their creativity. Call it bold, call it reckless, but honestly — it’s refreshing. There’s a belief that failure isn’t the end, but a stepping stone to finding the right path. A 9–5 might pay the bills, but chasing your own project pays in growth, freedom, and the occasional adrenaline rush of actually loving Mondays.
