The wait is finally over. At D23 2025, Marvel Studios officially unveiled the first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and fans worldwide are losing their minds. As the sixth Avengers movie and a key chapter to the MCU Phase 6, the trailer is chock full of big action sequences, emotional moments, and tons of easter eggs to tee up what could be Marvel’s darkest tale to date.

  1. The Return of Familiar Faces

At the start of the trailer, we get a shot of Doctor Strange looking battle-worn in a collapsing multiverse, with a broken Sanctum Sanctorum behind him, with the ominous tell of the end of reality as we know it. Fans also spotted Spider-Man wearing a new suit that many believe is inspired by the Secret Wars comics run.

And you did see the silhouette in the background, didn’t you? Many eagle-eyed fans think it’s Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man – probably coming back as a multiverse variant.

2. Doctor Doom Teased?

Undoubtedly, the biggest takeaway from the trailer is the black figure standing on a throne surrounded by flames. While Marvel hasn’t confirmed it and likely won’t until after the movie’s release, all signs seem to point to Doctor Doom making his official MCU debut. Given that this movie is titled Doomsday, it’s fair to say that Doctor Doom will have a massive role in the film, quite possibly bigger than Kang.

  1. Kang’s Presence Still Looms

Even though the focus seems to be shifting toward Doom, the trailer clearly shows remnants of Kang’s destruction from Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. There are shots of broken timelines, collapsing cities, and variants being erased. Marvel might be setting up an epic Kang vs. Doom conflict, which fans of the comics know would be legendary.

  1. The X-Men Connection

One blink-and-you ll-miss-it detail? A quick shot of Professor Xavier’s wheelchair in the rubble. Does this serve as the first official hint that the X-Men will team up with The Avengers in Doomsday? Which would make total sense, as Marvel is slowly introducing mutants into the MCU.

If you’re a comic book fan, you likely saw Battleworld-style geography in one scene–the broken fragments of different universes in space all around, in which the block of pieces looked very similar to Secret Wars (2015). This hints that Avengers: Doomsday will lead us directly into Marvel’s biggest crossover yet – Avengers: Secret Wars.

  1. Emotional Callback Moments

The trailer is filled with action and emotion. Captain America of Sam Wilson is shown holding a broken shield, a notable image of Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame. There is a brief shot of Wanda Maximoff, which is leading fans to believe that she survived Multiverse of Madness. Is she the wild card in the Doomsday battle?

Near the end, the trailer builds to what looks like another “Avengers Assemble” moment. Thor, Hulk, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man are all seen ready to charge into battle together. The team lineup is massive, and Marvel seems to be holding back even more surprises for the film’s release.

Marvel clearly has a way of generating excitement among fans, and with the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, it is easy to see why D23 2025 was the ideal place for this reveal. Doctor Doom’s tease, Kang’s threat, multiverse shenanigans, and maybe even X-Men cameos raise the stakes for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. 

This is not just another sequel; it is also the first chapter of the endgame of the Multiverse Saga. If the trailer is any hint, Avengers: Doomsday could be the most ambitious MCU film yet.
